Your journey begins with a smooth pickup from your hotel in Ica, followed by a short drive to the local airport—just 4 kilometers from the city center. Upon arrival, our team welcomes you and guides you to a special screening area. Here, you’ll watch a captivating 40-minute documentary about the Nazca culture and its enigmatic geoglyphs.
Part 2: Pre-Flight Briefing & Takeoff
After the video, your pilot will provide a detailed briefing about the flight route and safety instructions. Each passenger receives a Nazca Lines Map featuring the full set of geoglyphs. You will then board a Cessna Grand Caravan, a sturdy 12-passenger aircraft with large windows designed for sightseeing. The engines roar to life, and soon you’re airborne, heading southeast into one of the most mysterious deserts on Earth.
Part 3: The First Symbols in the desert.
As you approach the vast Nazca Plateau, your first visual encounter is with The Whale, etched into a massive rectangle at the edge of the archaeological zone. Next, you’ll fly over The Triangles and The Trapezoids, which span nearly 2 kilometers. These giant geometric shapes, some believe, were ceremonial paths—or perhaps ancient runways. The excitement intensifies as you spot The Astronaut, carved into a hillside and looking skyward. Was it a shaman? A star-reader? Or something else entirely?
Part 4: Sacred Beasts and Cosmic Alignments
Now you glide above some of the most iconic Nazca Lines: The Monkey, with nine fingers symbolizing the nine months of drought; The Dog, possibly a divine symbol; and the exquisite Hummingbird, whose beak points to the sunrise during the summer solstice. Soon after, you’ll witness The Spider, associated with rain and fertility, and The Condor, whose wings align with the setting sun during the summer solstice.
Part 5: Final Figures & Return to Ica
As your flight continues, you’ll observe The Flamingo, the longest geoglyph at over 300 meters, and the colossal Parrot, perched among straight lines and curves that defy logic. Your journey ends with a flight over the Pan-American Highway, where you’ll see The Tree, The Hands, and the fragmented Lizard, partially destroyed during road construction in the 1930s. The aircraft loops back to the Ica Airport. On landing, our representative will be waiting to take you back to your hotel.
