Tour Overview
What Makes This Day Special
Cantayo Aqueducts
Your journey begins at the Cantayo aqueducts, located just 4 kilometers from the city of Nazca. Built more than 1,500 years ago by the Nazca Culture, these spiral-shaped puquios are part of a sophisticated hydraulic system that still functions today. As you walk among the stone-lined wells and channels, your guide will explain the construction methods, their agricultural importance, and their role in sustaining life in one of the driest places on Earth.
The Needle – Nazca Lines Viewpoint
Next, we head to a natural hilltop lookout offering panoramic views of the Nazca desert. From here, you will see the Needle, an immense triangular geoglyph whose meaning remains an archaeological mystery. Its sharp geometry and massive proportions are even more impressive from this elevated perspective, and your guide will share insights into its possible purpose within the wider Nazca Lines complex.
Inca Ruins of Paradones
The final stop is the Inca ruins of Paradones, a fascinating site near Nazca where perfectly carved stones fit together without mortar. This architectural precision reflects the skill of Inca stonemasons and the empire’s ability to adapt their construction techniques to the desert environment. Paradones is believed to have been an administrative or strategic site during the Inca expansion into the region, offering a glimpse into the area’s layered history.
Finally, we will return to your hotel in Nazca. End of the tour.
